BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The office of the leading group for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area said Monday it will push for the implementation of an outline development plan for the area that was made public the same day.

Promoting the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major decision made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, said an official in charge of the office.

"It is a national strategy General Secretary Xi Jinping has planned for, made decisions about and promoted in person," the official said.

The official said the office will fully and faithfully implement the principles of "one country, two systems", "the people of Hong Kong governing Hong Kong," "the people of Macao governing Macao," and a high degree of autonomy, and act in strict adherence to the Constitution and the basic laws.

It will also coordinate with the government of Guangdong Province, the governments of Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, and relevant departments to thoroughly fulfill the tasks laid out in the plan.

We welcome all walks of society to actively take part in the development of the Greater Bay Area, jointly develop it into an international first-class bay area and a quality living circle that is suitable for living, working and traveling, and improve people's livelihood and well-being in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the official said.
