KAMPALA, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- In a bid to improve the quality of football in Uganda, the country's FA is sending several coaches for refresher courses and others for further training out of the country.

Edgar Watson, the Uganda FA chief executive Officer told Xinhua in a recent interview that they will continue to build capacity among the coaches because with better trained personnel, the standards will also develop.

Watson said they decided to hire a new national coach Sebastien Desabre this week, at the same time Moses Basena, the out going interim coach and goalkeepers coach Fred Kajoba will travel for further training in New York, United States.

On his arrival the new French born coach Desabre said he called for professionalism from each one so that they can be able to achieve great results.

Watson said bringing Desabre who has a rich coaching profile of top Premier league sides around Africa will help the other technical members on the Cranes coaching team and local coaches

Ahmed Hussein, the Uganda FA spokesman told Xinhua that Basena and Kajoba will be on an exchange program with the USA Football Federation for three months.

He said in the training, they will share experiences with some English Premier League coaches.

Uganda has over 30 top coaches who hold the Grade B Confederation of African Football (CAF) certificate which gives them ground to handle teams in the national Premeir League.

Hussein said over time the Federation has worked to develop coaches right from the lower levels to the higher levels.

"We are getting to a level where we want to continue sending our coaches for further training so that they can also be able to compete with other European coaches for top jobs around the continent," he said.

Livingstone Kyambadde, one of the instructors for coaches in Uganda told Xinhua that in the last five years, Uganda has greatly built capacity of the coaches.

"It is nice to see that our coaches can easily go to neigbouring Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan and get jobs. This is all because of the capacity we have built over time," added Kyambadde.

Former Uganda Cranes player Mujib Kasule, and now a coach of Uganda Premier League side, Proline FC says coaches must also invest their individual resources and time to acquire new knowledge and ideas in order to keep improving.
