BRATISLAVA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and another injured in a traffic accident in the Banska Bystrica region of central Slovakia on Wednesday, the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) reported, citing regional police.

The crash occurred in a head-on collision between two passenger vehicles on the I/66 road, according to the Emergency Medical Service Operational Center. Ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and the injured person was transported to hospital after receiving initial treatment from paramedics, the center said.

"Police are documenting the scene, and the I/66 road is currently completely impassable," the police said in a statement. ■
